Local Crime Report - January 2012
The following information was provided at the Ryedale Neighbourhod Watch AGM.
In the last three years Ryedale has seen reductions of 48% in house burglaries, 45% in other burglaries, 30% in criminal damage and a total reduction of 22.5% in al crime. That equates to 466 fewer victims of crime than four years ago.
There has been an increase in drug offences but this doesn't indicate increasing drug use but better detection. This results mainly from the use of Number Plate Recignition, especially on the A64 and better information from the community.
This can be seen in the broader context of North Yorkshire which is:
- the largest county force in England and Wales
- has the lowest crime rate in England
- has the highest detection rate among similar Forces
- has recorded 2000 fewer crin=mes than this time last year
An important factor in all this good news is the support and information provided by local communities and it is essential tha we all remain vigilant and report any crimes, anti-social behaviour or suspicious activity on 999 in an emergency or 101 for non-emergencies.
