Home Library and Information Service 

After losing our mobile library service there may be some residents who find it difficult using the library service. For those in ill-health or with a disability the Home Library and Information Service offers an alternative. Books will be selected based on your preferences and delivered by volunteers every two weeks or they can be collected by someone on your behalf.

Fire Safety

After a recent fire in the village the Fire Service has reminded everyone to check their own fire safety precautions. The Fire Service are offering  free Home Fire Safety Risk Assessments and will fit Smoke Alarms with a ten-year battery and hush facility also free of charge.

North Yorkshire Newsletter

A free electronic newsletter is being launched by the NYCC. It will  keep residents up to date with developments in the county council's services and advise how to take part in consultations.

 

North Yorkshire Now will be sent by email each month to everyone who signs up. The first issue will be available from August 1.  You can sign up to the newsletter here: www.northyorks.gov.uk/subscribe_now.




Post Collection

The post collection is Westow village on Mobday to Friday is now 1615.



Ryedale Community Payback Scheme


This scheme offers a way for offenders to do work that directly benefits the community and gives them an opportunity to learn new skills. In our locl area workers have made a significant contribution to the Howsham Mill project. Projects can range from litter removel and clearing undergrowth to repairs and decoration, e.g. to village halls. If anyone can think of a suitable project they ccan propose it through a voluntary organisation or faith group or contact the Parish Council. For more information see www.ynyprobation.co.uk
